Jerome Bixby’s The Man from Earth

This is a story of a professor who claims that he is one of our earliest ancestors, and he just never died. His friends, who are fellow professor’s are at first thinking he is only telling them a story, but how could you really prove that the person next to you is only 35, and not 140 centuries old?

                          

So after she had gotten me up, I decided I was going to go see this movie, with really having only seen a few twitter messages about it, and I believe a trailer for it when I went to go see Star Trek District 9.

Why this pre-amble? Well I wasn’t really fully awake when the movie started. [UPDATE: And apparently I wasn't all that awake when I wrote the review either, Star Trek wasn't even out yet]

For the first 30 minutes, I was desperately trying to keep myself up, the thought of leaving the theatre had actually crossed my mind because I was finding myself wanting to go to sleep.

Then they get out to the camp where the aliens have been set aside to live, to evict them. This part of the movie I call “Lets realistically portray how stupid humans really are.”  If you look at a lot of our fiction, and its clear that unless you come to us with guns blazing, we are going to treat you like a 9th world country.

To the human race’s benefit, we didn’t force them to learn English, and the people who worked with them, was able to understand their native language, and the aliens were able to understand the humans who spoke English anyways.

The only thing I wish they had explained more, is “what was in the fuel?” I won’t spoil the movie, but if you have seen it I’m sure you know why I ask.

Once the main human star of the movie, is hit with the chemical he begins to change, and then fight the humans.

As with many other reviews I’ve read of this movie, I’d say go see it in the theatre.

                          

In this story Benjamin grows up while getting physically younger. He happens to be growing up in an Old Folks home that his adoptive parents run, so all of the other patients there believe he is the same age as they are. This leads to some disappointments when people are surprised as to how young Benjamin acts at times, thinking he is in his 80′s not 7.

Overall, a very good movie, but takes a while to get to the action, but well worth the wait!

                          

One of the new apps I’ve discovered is Joost, while I had heard quite a bit about it earlier, it wasn’t till recently that I had been actually been able to use it.

One of the channels I find kind of interesting is the Alliance Antlantis channel, where they show movies that I presume the movie network had something to do with.

Just finished watching: The Cold Equations which was a rather interesting movie, I had never heard of the story before but from what I see its a rather well known short story.

I saw this on a regular movie screen, I know its also available in IMAX, however I’m glad I didn’t watch that version of it, this movie has some rather gruesome sections to it. It seems this movie was made to borrow elements from the likes of Resident Evil. However being that this isn’t borrowed straight from a video game, it has a real plot to it.

If you like Will Smith and/or like monster movies you may wish to go see this one.
