So, over the New Years I went to visit someone who I went to high school with. I had thought the visit went okay between us, but considering I’ve not talked to her in almost a week I’d say she didn’t think so.

However, there is no denying that her 7 year old son and I got along quite well.  While it did get a little distracting constantly telling him, no and stop, he is overall a great kid if you can keep up with him.

Early in the morning he would come and join me, or push me off the pillow was more like it. Oddly enough I find I miss that. I had so hoped that things would have gone better on that trip.

I really do hope, that eventually I can have normal contact with him again.

Being unemployed sucks, espicially now that there are actually some things that are pretty high on my ‘wish list’ right now.

One of the items is already out, and besides its DRM issues, has been getting great reviews. This is the game Spore, by EA.

The other game I would get, which isn’t out quite yet (will be this week though) is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. In this game, you play Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice on a mission to finish getting rid of the Jedi. I have played the free demo available for the PS/3, and it was rather easy, at least till you have to battle the AT-AT, however going by other things I have seen, that level is supposed to be rather easy.

Anyways, if I had a job right now, these two games would be high on my want list. I would hope to already have Spore, and probably spending way to much time playing it, but …..

Hey all, today I try something a little different. This is a short video recording I made with my iMac, using iMovieHD 06, I have previously tried to do something like this with iMovie 08, but wasn’t happy with the results.

I may have to learn more about the different versions of iMovie, but currently I see it would be easy to out grow what both iMovie 06 and 08 allow you to do, at least as far as podcasting is concerned.

As many people know, who follow me on places other than this, I had been a Dreamhost employee for almost a year, and even though its now over, I still feel this is one of the best places I have worked at for a number of years.

To my credit, both the main TS manager and my direct supervisor they were sorry to have to let me go.  While most people they let go is because either they screwed over the company, or did something seriously wrong to hurt the company, I just wasn’t picking up stuff fast enough for them.

“This job is kind of hard, one of the thing we expect out of people is to be a Jr. Unix Admin,” is a paraphrase of what one or both of them had to say about it.

This has overall been one of the most gracious company’s I have ever worked for, they have a profit sharing with the employees, and even though I wasn’t there for an entire year yet, they included what I would have gotten as part of my last check from them.

My overview of Dreamhost? They are a great company to have for your average hosting needs, however even though with their low prices they made podcasting possible for a great majority of people, they don’t really get podcasting.

With on hand knowledge of how the servers are built, and what I’ve seen happened to fellow podcasters while I was working their this is very obvious.

I really do hope that someday, they will embrace what they helped to create.

So what am I going to do now? This I don’t know, my previous boss, told me that many former Dreamhost employees go and work for Media Temple, so perhaps I will look at them. Or perhaps I will give up living on the coast and look seriously again at moving to Arizona.

So today I have a physical, and to be totally truthful, I’m a bit scared of what it might eventually turn up.

To get ahead of the game, I had a blood test done last week, and there were some results that are rather scary. I’m hoping these will wind up being simple to solve things but….

My results included a result for a Serum that is produced when the liver is having difficulty. Normally 38 is the high, I got a 58. My HDL (good cholesterol) low, and my CO₂ levels were high.

Will this turn into anything? I really hope not…

After viewing my blog real quick, I see how much can change in such a short amount of time.

I am now hearing voices in my head, thanks to a loan that a new friend gave me. I was able to get a very good deal on a 30 GB iPod with Video, from a pawn shop.

I also have a job now with Dreamhost! So far all I can say, is “Wow what a great company to work for.” They actually make sure that you their employee is happy, they would prefer to have people stay for a long time, as opposed to having quick turn around.

The voices I used to hear had names, and they weren’t the voices you would think someone would hear. They didn’t tell me to hurt others or anything, they just kept my brain busy while I was going to one place or another.

The voices in my head had names like Lafferty, Cutler, Sigler, Brisbin, and many many more.

Of course, I can and do, listen at my computer, but this does make it much harder to listen to all of my podcasts. When I get my next job, this will be one of my first objectives to replace the iPod.

Sorry for the long delay, well it was indeed Sunday that I was let go. I didn’t work till the end of Sunday, but was paid for it. They switched all of our phones to the other center, and then there really wasn’t anything else for us to do. So we had a small potluck that we had already planned, and all went on our merry way.

This is one job, that I certainly won’t miss loosing, but more on why later. Shortly going to sleep now, so that tomorrow I can wake up and be on my way to the 3rd Annual Podcasting and New Media Expo.

For a few weeks there had been a rumor going on that the company I was working for was shutting down the department I worked for, and moving it all to an external company. Today I received confirmation that this was true, supposedly my assignment will end this Sunday.

However I fully expect that by 1:00 PM on Saturday I’ll have already been let go, we’ll see what happens.
