So a while ago, Office Depot announced they were going to be getting Kindles on the 25th of September.  Well now being the 30th you would expect they’d have them right? Checking their website, they ask if your meaning “spindles”, though in the side bar it does show tablets, so at least they have some idea.

So wanting to get more information about this I went into their chat to see if I could find more information, here is what I learned:

Please wait while we find an agent to assist you…
You have been connected to Danny.
Danny: Hi Chris

So after hearing about KickStarter on Managing the Gray in the episode called Goals. I figured it would be interesting at least to see if I would be able to raise some money to concentrate on The Incident at Station 23.

So I submitted my idea to them, and the same day (today) received an email back saying that while in Beta they are only able to take so many projects on at once. And they will let me know when they can get to me.

So starts my KickStarter experience, will it go anywhere? Currently only time will tell.

Down the Rabbit Hole

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE STREAM

Looking to possibly grow your podcast’s audience?

Coming soon is the Down The Rabbit Hole Internet Streaming station. Which will broadcast a wide variety type of shows. So you never know what you’ll find once you go “Down the Rabbit Hole.”

I realize I don’t produce nearly enough content to fill up a 24 hour station for long, even with the help of the people who have agreed to assist with Live shows. So I’m opening the doors to my fellow podcasters who would like to increase how many people have listened to their shows. I’ll also do my best to give you reports as to how many streams were live while your show was being sent out.

Currently I have agreements with Matthew Wayne Selznick to release his Brave Men Run, and a few other agreements. Would you like to be included? Skype me or hit me up on Twitter! Or email me at: program@downtherabbitholestream.com

Money:

I fully realize that you as the contributor would love to make money off your hard work. And eventually I would love to make this my “Day” Job, lofty goals I know.  But if this starts to make money, I am more than willing to discuss with anyone to come up with a payment schedule that is satisfactory.

Live Shows:

Interested in doing a live show? I am very interested in speaking with you! As this station grows its requirements will change, but right now if you can set aside 30 minutes a week (at minimum) we can work on a spot for you. You do need to be available most times on the same schedule, so if you start on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, you can’t be constantly bouncing. If you want to play music, it must be something that does not require money for pay, so no ASCAP or BMI or anyone similar. Contact me at the ways listed above, if your interested!

Many of you probably know, that I don’t get very political on my blog, or my podcasts or anywhere else for that matter.  However, currently depending on the EDD for money coming in, its really rough with how out of date their system is.

Below is a letter I sent to the Governor via his website at: http://gov.ca.gov/interact. Will I get anything, beyond a generic thank you e-mail? Probably not, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to try right?

What are your opinions?

Hello Governor Schwarzenegger:

As one of the huge numbers of unemployed people currently in California, I was curious if you had given any consideration to making the EDD section of the state more budget conscience?

With some very small amounts of their full budget, it seems to me that you could probably wipe out a portion of their budget.

First point, why do the bi-weekly reports of job searching need to be mailed back and forth?  Some quick calculations would show they spend: $420,000 for every million letters they send out. Instead, why doesn’t the state do direct deposit, and allow the forms to be put online?

This would speed up the process of processing forms, and lower costs related to mailing checks out.

Also, for when a check has been mailed out, why must people call in to find out? This morning between 7:51 AM and 8:24 AM I wounded up calling about 26 times to find out my check was written today. The previous 25 times, I was told that they were to busy handling other calls.

This should be relatively easy to turn into an  internet based form, that people can check via their computer. And it would also save the state all of the money it wastes telling people that the EDD is having to many calls to answer theirs.

California is known for being the leaders in many areas, why is it our EDD section is so far behind?

Thank you,

Chris Moody

As you probably know dear reader, I’ve been unemployed for a brief while now. Yesterday I decided to put up an ad on craigslist.com to see what would happen, and I responded to some ads.

To my utter amazement, I have already made money helping people with their computers. I figured this would wind up being as unproductive as the small distribution I tried.

General business rule, is it takes money to make money, now while I did have to pay for the gas to get to where I was going, I didn’t have to actually pay for the advertisement. So perhaps it doesn’t always take money to make money.

If you need some computer help, and your local to the Beach communities of Los Angeles, or you have a problem I can help you with via telecommutting, then let me know! E-mail me at: chris [at] chrismoody.net!
